I ordered a new modem from AOL and asked for a DSL modem with an ethernet connection on 3/21/05.The AOL rep spoke borken English but said he understood and I would have the part in 3-5 days. Well, it showed up on 3/29/05 and it was the wrong modem. I called AOL again and it took 1-1/2 hrs until I found someone who could understand what I needed. Lola set up the order (Case # 150658174) and sent me off to shipping.
I asked to pay (out of my pocket) to have the modem sent overnight. I was again told they only have the ability to ship 3-5 days, while talking to James. He than sent me to his supervisor, Robin, who said she would do everything she could to assist my request, and that she would call me back within 2 hours. 3-1/2hrs. later I called back. It took 45 minutes to reach shipping, as no one seemed to know that there was a shipping dept. I had to speak with 6 people, none of which knew what to do except make me repeat my problem over and over again. According to everyone there was no record of any order under the case number I was given.
After basically screaming and throwing a fit, low and behold someone realized that there was a shipping dept afterall, but said that there was no one in there by the name of Robin. And so I was transferred and asked for a manager and got Mark, badge #16231. Mark proceeded to tell me he knew all about my order and that Robin had put in a request to have my shipment done "overnight" but that it could take 72 hrs to get an approval for that. So, how can they even promise 3-5 days when they have to wait for approval before shipping anything, according to Mark. When I asked who else I could talk to, he said that he was the highest ranking person on duty.
I asked for a telephone muber to AOL Corporate and he said "there isn't one" I asked for his direct call back number and he said "there isn't one". I asked to speak with someone in consumer complaints and he said "there isn't one". When I asked when I would hear about my request and if he could call me tomorrow (meaning today 3/30/05) he said he was off and couldn't call. When I asked if that meant I had to wait until he returned he stated "yes". When I questioned that he claimed that there were others copied on my request and that someone else would call me. You and I both know that is a lie and I so much as told Mark that.
