I bought a German Shepherd female puppy from this breeder for $1000, and when I went to pick her up I noticed that she kept cocking her head. I pointed that out to the breeder, and he told me that it was just curious...and seeing that I am not a Veterinarian, I believed him. On the long car ride home, I noticed that she kept tilting her head, so I drove directly to my veterinarian. Well it turns out that she was diagnosed with Congential Vistibular Syndrome, which is evident from birth.
He has a guarantee that includes if there is a problem within 48 hours found that you can have a replacement puppy. I contacted the breeder right away with a formal letter from my veterinarian, he was extremely rude and said that he was going to exclude my veterinarian's diagnosis just because he stated his credentials at the bottom of the letter. He harrassed me through phone calls, and had me go to ANOTHER veterinarian and pay for a second opinion, which she also agreed with my 1st veterinarian, and now he is demanding for me to go to a Neurologist!
All I want is a healthy puppy to train, show and breed. This syndrome is also heriditary, so she should NOT be bred. She constantly has a head tilt, falls over, very disoriented, etc. He is not following his contract, and causing me much grief!
I paid $1000 for this "Top quality" female, he treated me like a friend, I feel used. I am 19 years old, and I believe he took advantage of my inexperience. I know there probably isn't anyway I can get my money back, since he stated that several times in his condition of sale, but he did guarantee a new, healthy puppy if there was a problem, and he's not doing this! Honestly I am now to the point where I DONT want another puppy from him, that only means I will have to keep in contact with this person longer! Since he is not following his own guarantee...does it make it void?Allison should sue the breeder in Small Claims Court. If he is in violation of his contract, she stands a good chance of recovering the purchase price and all of her expenses.
