Basically my whole experience with renting an apartment has been horrible. I've had a number of problems. Electricity out for a weekend due to a fault in the apartment, not utility company's fault.
Ants since I moved in have crawled from my sliding glass door through the frontroom and to the kitchen. They say they have sprayed numerous times but the problem hasn't gone away. It isn't just a few ants. It is a line of ants going back and forth between the kitchen. If I leave any food out for about an hour they will be there. They get into my cabinets and find their way into boxes of cereal and chips.
Poor maintenance on swimming pool. They advertise that they have a sauna but it actually hasn't worked for over a year. Air conditioning is set to 65 degrees but actual temp stays at 75 degrees and my master bedroom is even hotter. The coil which is part of the AC started leaking water and the solution they gave me was to keep the thermostat set above 72 degrees. The AC problem causes high costs with electricity.
Some other problems which I've found out through the leasing agents who are actually pretty nice are: maintenance came to fix a window that wouldn't hold itself up, they left for a little bit leaving their tools and key inside the apartment but left the door unlocked, my roommate came home got lunch and left, in the process he locked the door. The management requested that we come let the maintenance in to get their tools while we were at work. They also told the leasing agents that we purposely locked the maintenance people out of our apartment.
With the electricty problem they told me that our electricity fix was delayed because we wouldn't let them into the apartment. And last of all I came in to pay for a lease termination fee of $1100 because I finally found another place to live and accidentally saw a confidential paper about the electricity problem that stated that I was always in a drunken rage when I complained about the apartment which is completly and utterly untrue.
