I have a complaint about a checker with Peninsula Fred Meyer/ store #255-- N. Lombard Street Portland Oregon 97203. On Monday July 26th, 2010 around 12:15 PM, I was checking out in check stand #10 later to find out the checkers name to be HyeJin. I gave her a store coupon for Darigold Butter that had went on sale in your Sunday adds however I inadvertently grabbed the Fred Meyer brand of Butter. When I handed the coupon to HyeJin she said I had the wrong brand. I voluntarily excused myself from the checkout lane and told the 4-5 people behind me that I was sorry I had the wrong butter, in which they all said that's Ok No problem.

Well, I ran all the way back and grabbed the correct butter but I wanted the salted butter in which they only had Unsalted on the shelf so I took that so I wouldn't have held up the line more than should be. As I returned to the checkout line and handed Hyejin the butter she said something rude and I said excuse me in which she replied "You are so rude" " I then said "How do you figure" and she said that I held up the line for which I replied had HyeJin had to have called for a courtesy clerk it would have taken 3-4 times longer. By this time I am totally humiliated, embarrassed and beyond upset.

I then asked the clerk in check stand 9 (Laura) to call for a manager because I have a complaint in which HyeJin at that time threw in a "Your Opinion Is Important" brochure in my shopping cart. A Manager by the name of Arydahl came up front and I proceeded to explain this whole ordeal to him. After talking with him he said this problem would be taken care of. In the mean time two of the women behind me approached me at the electronics section and said that they couldn't believe what they had just witnessed. I wish at that time I would have gotten their names but I was rather shaken up and in disbelief.

I have been shopping at Fred Meyer for over 40 years and have never ever experienced something like this in my life, in fact I have cousins, one sister and an aunt that have either retired or are still working for Kroger not to mention lots of friends at that store. If you check my rewards card you can see for yourself how often I patronize Fred Meyer. I would like this matter to be looked into and I would appreciate a response on what measures were taken to ensure myself that this will not only not happen to me again but to another customer. Please forward this to Corporate as well or I will follow through with the regular Post Office. I hope I get answers from both Heidi as well as Corporate.
