Also if you have booked a vehicle and transfers they forget to pick you up or double book a car. Service is terrible and very unfriendly.
Another point of concern is the one way pick up or drop off fee. When picking up a vehicle outside Windhoek they charge you for the fuel and food the driver uses. So it looks cheaper than all other companies but in the end it works out more expensive. Most reputable companies add all these costs and are included in the one way pick up fee. If you return the vehicle take photos of all sides. You will get hit with damages when the car is returned to the depot. If you are most unfortunate to have an one side accident (no other vehicle involved and its your fault) well i feel sorry for you as they will find lots of damage that is not covered by insurance and they will bill you. I hope this helps if anyone is thinking of hiring a vehicle from Asco or Asco related companies. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way.
Good luck as Namibia is a beautiful contry and most car hire companies are great. Do your home work well and all should go well.
The company responds: After checking the databases of our three companies it became apparent that neither company ever had a client by the name of "Marcello". B-Mobile Car Rental, however, has a tour operator listed by the name of BMS Travellers B.V. whose Managing Director is Marcello Pacenti, situated in, yes, Mijdrecht, The Netherlands.
After Asco Car Hire took over B-Mobile Car Rental on the 1st of April 2009 we had to inform certain tour operators that the previous B-Mobile management had drastically overbooked the rental vehicles available in the high season, and that unfortunately not all bookings could be honored. BMS Travellers, through their inbound tour operator in Namibia, Profile Safaris, was one of those tour operators. Marcello took this news very badly. He wrote me, among others, this email (no spelling corrections): "Dear Pat, I have to gather that this is filed closed for you. Stuff BMS and its clients. You took over a company with contracts. How about a solution instead of saying its over booked and up yours. Not a nice way of doing business or treating future potential clients. I have to presume that we have to look elsewhere for a solution then. Is this the true colours of the new Asco B-Mobile car hire then???"
This email was dated 12 May 2009. Same day the consumer complaint' appears on your website. Our explanation that B-Mobile, after the take-over, couldn't supply the necessary vehicles to certain operators due to mistakes of the before-take-over management and the situation was beyond our control, fell on deaf ears with Marcello. But never mind. What really disturbs me is that Marcello pretends to be a consumer who had a bad experience with Asco Car Hire / B-Mobile car Rental / Value Car Rental while he has never even been here. He has never been in our offices and he has never seen one of our vehicles from close by. It is the perfect example of a disgruntled and spiteful person impersonating a consumer and making up false complaints in order to voice his frustration in business. I'm not going to reply to his accusations. It should be perfectly clear to everyone that those complaints exist only in Marcello's malicious mind.
