Delta has a promotion for customers outside the USA. I planed a trip within the promotion dates to receive extra base miles. Today I was told that I might not qualify for this promotion because I already had a trip and received extra miles. Since I live in Germany the promotion requirements are in German language and absolutly misleading. In German they do not point out any restriction to one flight taken in the promotion period. It is written in plural and the head line reads -- Double Miles for flights to the USA.
Since I wanted to know how the rules are I phoned Delta and the English version of this promotion is absolutly different. First the German-speaking agent in London read the German version and had the same understanding like I had but to be absolutly sure she had to ask someone from the Skymiles department and after that told me different. The text is also not understood correctly by Delta staff.
I called the gold medallion line in the USA and also have been rudely told that the translation unfortunately is not precise. Also the only reason I knew of the promotion is that our ticket agent in Frankfurt had told us about it and she told me that they are advised not to point out promotions. I am glad that I have not purchased the ticket yet and after being fooled so bad I will decide to stay home in the future because I have gathered the impression today that Delta does not want or need my money.
