Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Credit card fraud, dangerous environment: On Friday, March 30, I booked a room using my business credit card (the first and only time it was used in a business transaction in Tennessee) and the next day, I got a call from my bank notifying me an attempt was made to purchase groceries at a local Kroger (La Vergne, Tennessee). I had my card cancelled to eliminate any additional fraudulent attempts to use it. It took two days for me to move funds around to a different account so I could report to work in Nashville. Consequently, I lost two days of work (I was supposed to start on Monday, April 2, actually started on Wednesday April 4) because of a thief on the hotel staff. When I arrived at the hotel, I told the manager (Abby **) about it. Instead of being sympathetic and offering to assist in some way, she became very combative and defensive and refused to do anything unless I provided "proof" that it was one of her staff.

Then last night, the neighbors next door got in an argument with each other which began around 8PM and didn't end until after 2:30AM. I called the front desk 3 times asking the clerk to get these people to quiet down (the couple that was arguing were screaming at each other, slamming and throwing things around the room). The first time, the clerk said she would take care of it so I waited half an hour and when the arguing continued, I called the front desk again. This time, she told me was busy and would get to it when she had the chance. Another hour went by and I called again and told her I would call the police if she wouldn't do anything about it. Another hour went by and the couple started arguing again, so I called the front desk again. By this time, it was after 11PM so when I called, I spoke to someone named "Dena". She asked me what room I was in and I told her. She said she would take care of it.

Shortly after, someone knocked on the neighbor's door (room 156). Whoever this person was told the maniac which room was complaining about the noise. The next thing I know, this guy is standing in front of my door screaming at the top of his lungs, cursing and demanding I come out of my room which I did not do. I didn't call the police either because I was certain they would just tell the guy to settle down and as soon as they left, the situation would have gotten worse. I am convinced that my personal safety was in jeopardy and was made doubly so because of the inaction of the staff and the incredible stupidity of the person from the hotel who told the maniac which room was complaining. I have been an IT road warrior for 20 years, have traveled throughout the southeast US and this is the first time that I felt I was in physical danger. I will not be back nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone.

I am statying at Homestead Hotel Studios and I bought a computer on 1/27/03 from CompAtlanta in Georgia. They shipped it UPS ground to be delivered on 2/3/03. I notified everyone in the office (Guests are allowed mail, fax and they provide data ports for internet service etc.) and received a call from Linda Larsen (front office) that my package had arrived.

By the time I got the message her shift was over and the person at the desk said she could not find anything for me. She said she would have Ms. Larsen call in the morning when she returned. I never received a call and she again had already gone home when I talked to "Veronica" the Assistant Manager who claims she spoke to Ms. Larsen who reports she had no package for me.

Per UPS my computer (3 boxes, 74 lbs total) was delivered on 2/3/03 and signed for by Ms. Larsen at 1:13PM. Ms. "Veronica" told me that "yes" they did receive a computer system but it did not have my name on it and it was the only shipment they received that day. She said UPS must have made a mistake. I again verified with UPS that the only shipment received by the HOmestead hotel that day was MINE - in 3 boxes and it was addressed to me.

Ms. Veronica claims that Ms. Larsen called the guest that they gave the packages to and he confirmed that the computer he recieved was his and they refused to give me this person's name or information claiming "confidentiality laws" of hotels prevent giving guests information out. They also would not go and check the labels of the boxes because the guest who has them does not wish to be disturbed with this problem.

UPS will not take a claim because the boxes were delivered and signed for by the office. The office claims they are not liable because they don't recall getting a package for me regardless of what they signed for with UPS. I paid for a computer system that is now being enjoyed by a person whose identity is being kept from me.

There has got to be something that I can do about this? Where is my computer what are my rights here? I have a signed tracking tracer by UPS with an image of the office girls signature and she verified it is hers.

It will cost me $ 965.00 to replace the computer system that is lost. (A monitor - keyboard - mouse and a pentium computer) In the meantime I have work that is piling up that I am unable to do so I have been put on "temporary" leave of absense (I work at home) until I have a computer I can work on.

Kandi's computer appears to have been stolen. She should therefore call the police, who should be able to get to the bottom of it.
