I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic. The brochure did not state that the only non-smoking rooms were on the third floor of a three-story building with no elevators. I am pregnant, had my three-year-old son with me and my handicapped mother who is on long term disability.

We got there on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 and left on Friday morning, May 30, 2003 because we could not handle the smell in the smoking rooms on the first floor and could not climb the stairs to the third floor. The manager wrote to me and said that everything was done and that I was impossible to please.

I think that they are in violation of civil law and the americans with disabilities act and are refusing to even speak with me. Please help me get my reimbursement of $2300 for the vacation and $1400 for the plane tickets home. I have all of the bills.

The Americans With Disabilities Act doesn't apply in the Dominican Republic, which is, after all, another country. We don't see any recourse for Eleonora, sorry to say.
