It appears that the vacation company went out of business and my account was sold to collection agency Monterrey Financial. It was a total of about $4600 and I paid about half. It now shows on my credit report but I feel like the contract is void. I never used it to vacation and it looks as even if I pay that, I won't be able to use it. Please advise.

I want to warn everyone from booking travel on United Vacations. You need to know you are dealing with an entirely separate company than United who doesn't even acknowledge United Vacations should you need to alter your plans. Be very careful about getting locked into United Vacations as it doesn't allow you to book on United flights, even though you have Premier Executive status. Status Schmatus, it counts for zero on United Vacations. They cost me over $1300 to make a simple change in my return flight. Do not book travel with them. They are disreputable.
