I moved to Gainesville in August 2008. In Orange County, Florida, I had 3 utility companies of which I was a customer (water, electric, gas) the bill for all 3 combined for a 3-bedroom home never went higher than $180/month. This month, for a one bedroom, one person (gone 9 hours daily) was $207.00. I'm tired of choosing GRU bills over groceries. GRU claims it is cold out, thus I have to pay more. I make $8.24/hr and GRU claims that's not their problem. I must pay or have my power shut off.
